5-17-24 THOUGHTS
God wants His mind in our minds. The parable of the sower shows us His design to use His Spirit filled WORD as key to the process. We must have ears to hear, a desire to know! In our reading below, Peter brings up the concept of REMINDING! It’s “in mind”, but now being renewed. It’s kind of a branding idea with repetition as the process. We need this process! We must have God’s MIND! Verse 15 says “And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.” That God was pleased with Jesus is key!
2Pet 1:12-18 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 13 I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, 14 knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15 And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind. 16 For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased" — 18 and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
Col 1:17-20 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. 18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. 19 For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
My Prayer:
With each breath, O God, remind us of Jesus as the One who saves us! May the shadow of the cross be ever-present in our minds. Tell us continually, the old old story of Jesus and His love.
May our minds be filled to the full with Your mind. Give us a powerful desire to know You to the full. We want and need You in us, O Father. We pray in Jesus, Amen.
